Tashi Lance formally arraigned in Target store child abduction

Clayton, Mo (KSDK) — The woman police and prosecutors say walked off with the toddler son of a girlfriend from the Jennings Target store last week has been formally arraigned and will sit in jail to await a preliminary hearing.

20 year old Tashi Lance of University City is charged with felony child kidnapping in the Friday afternoon abduction of 18 month old Cortez Beasley.

The little boy was suppose to be watched by Lance while Cortez’s mother took another child to use the restroom at the discount store located in the Buzz Westfall shopping center on West Florissant Avenue at Lucas and Hunt Road.

A SARAA alert was issued by police investigators after it was determined the child was and Lance were gone.

After approximately 6 hours of searching the metropolitan St. Louis area, police located Lance and the child, unharmed at a home near Bridgeton.

Prosecutors charged Lance with the felony crime over the weekend. She remains in the St. Louis County Jail on a cash only bond of $200,000. She’s scheduled for a return court appearance in January.
