–When asked to assess Jets CB Darrelle Revis, Cincinnati WR Terrell Owens called him "just an average corner to me." Owens also made it clear he hasn’t forgotten Revis calling him a "slouch" in an interview months ago.
"he came out and said that I was a slouch, myself and Randy (Moss)," Owens said. "I heard it. It’s in the back of my mind. As far as me being a slouch, that has never been anything to describe me."
Owens had six catches for 46 yards in two games for Buffalo against the Jets last season, covered mostly by Revis.
Owens also called Revis a "great" cornerback and then quickly amended it to "good."
Owens said, "He’s only done one thing for one year. you talk about shutdown corners, you need to repeatedly do it year-in and year-out. I think he did it one year and everybody made a lot of hoopla about it."
Revis hasn’t said anything disrespectful about Owens this week, although he also didn’t take back the "slouch" remark.
"Terrell Owens is Terrell Owens," Revis said. "He’s always been a great receiver. It’s just probably some situations he was in with certain teams, (where) maybe he couldn’t get the ball as much."
–RB LaDainian Tomlinson said Tuesday that second-year QB mark Sanchez "was probably the main reason that I came here, honestly. I saw the guy and I said, ‘You know what, this guy has something special to him.’"
Tomlinson, who was released by San Diego in February, was courted by both the Jets and Minnesota in March. Sanchez is "ahead of his time as far as the learning curve and knowing this offense," Tomlinson added.
LT also was unsure about the situation in Minnesota, considering that at the time, Brett Favre was undecided about whether he would come back for another season.
Tomlinson said, "so, my thought process was, ‘I can go with a guy that led his team to the AFC championship as a rookie. got a great defense, great coaching staff. or I can go somewhere that I don’t know who’s going to be the quarterback.’ so it was pretty easy to me."
BY THE NUMBERS 3 — Number of takeaways the Jets have had in their last four games. They had 14 in the first six games of the season.
QUOTE TO NOTE "That’s huge, because everybody in the country is watching. Ours is the last game, I think. Right when people are eating dinner, football’s on TV and it’s going to be us. we wouldn’t want it any other way." — QB mark Sanchez on playing Thanksgiving night.
