LOCH SHELDRAKE – Students and college administrators met in what is described as an “explosive and emotional packed house” on Wednesday, to discuss the stabbings of five people at the off-campus privately owned student housing near Sullivan County community College on October 22.
At the time of the incident, police said people interrupted a student party and started stabbing people.
According to a student run website, SullReal.com, students met with school officials. Students expressed concerns about their safety on campus with one student telling the officials “we are all still in danger.” another student was reported as saying, “anybody can come on the campus you wouldn’t even know.”
One student said the college appears to be concerned only with students living in dormitories.
Dean Vincent Boyd was quoted as saying that SCCC is an open campus “just like Binghamton or new Paltz.” He urged everyone “to exercise caution. Please be aware of your surroundings. if something looks out of place say something.”
